Portugal — especially the regions south of Lisbon — offers year-round cycling conditions, but each season has its own character:
September–October — the ideal months. Stable weather, warm but comfortable temperatures, quieter roads, and perfect riding conditions. One of the very best periods for trips.
November–March — surprisingly good for cycling. Daytime temperatures are typically 15–19°C, with plenty of sunny days. Fully rainy days are rare: usually it's enough to wait an hour or two before continuing the ride.
Accommodation prices drop significantly, and availability increases — a big advantage for groups. In winter we recommend planning with a small buffer for weather, and we’ll advise you on which region and route structure minimize weather risks.
Spring (April–June) — another excellent window. Lush landscapes, long daylight hours, and mild temperatures. Heat usually arrives only at the end of June, so spring is a great time for active riding.
August — the least suitable month. Very hot, especially away from the ocean. It’s also the peak holiday month in Portugal: busy roads, crowded beaches, and limited hotel availability. If August is the only option, it’s best to stay close to the coast, where temperatures are noticeably cooler.
